Ictsecurity.gov.my was originally founded in 1999 by Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU). The Electronic Government Steering Committee Meeting proposed that MAMPU provide a comprehensive IT security Implementation Strategy for the all aspects of Government ICT security. Following the decision, MAMPU proposed the establishment of the ICT Security Division at MAMPU on 14 September 1999. The PANEL meeting agreed in principle with the proposal and decided that MAMPU must come up with a detailed proposal for consideration by the Public Services Department.

In December 1999, the Public Services Department agreed and approved the application from the ICT Security Division for establishing the ICT Network Monitoring Section for the Public Sector (PRISMA). The ICT Security Division launched the Government Security Web Portal (GSWP) as part of PRISMA’s system components in 2003.

Government Security Web Portal (GSWP) is the preferred information source for ICT security professionals around the world and provides the security community with access to accurate computer security information.

• To undertake planning of ICT security policies in the public sector;
• To co-ordinate security aspects in ICT usage in the public sector; and
• To monitor security aspects of ICT usage in the public sector.

The main functions of this Division are as follows:
• Planning of ICT Security policies, standards and guidelines;
• Computer Emergency Response;
• Monitoring of the ICT network in the public sector;
• Service Continuity;
• Network Security Audit;
• Accreditation of ICT Security Officers;
• Public Key Infrastructure (PKI);
• ICT Security Acculturation and Training
